Vietnam and Laos promote bilateral cooperation mechanisms

The Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Committee organised the 2022 mid-term conference in the Central province of Ha Tinh on August 17.

At the conference, the two sides informed each other about the socio-economic situation of each country and evaluated the cooperation situation and cooperation direction of the two countries in the coming time.

Investment cooperation has continued to see positive changes, with the total investment capital of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos having reached about 5.3 billion USD with 214 projects so far, ranking 3rd among foreign investors in Laos.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Planning and Investment of Laos Khamjane Vongphosy expressed his delight that Vietnam has taken effective measures to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic, helping the economy continue to grow, and maintaining macroeconomic stability, while Vietnam’s role, position and reputation continue to rise in the international and regional arenas.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasised that the two sides need to continue to further improve the effectiveness of cooperation in the key fields of defence and security, trade, investment, transport connection, education and training, cooperation between localities, and people-to-people exchanges.

He also expressed his belief that, in the spirit of special solidarity, the cooperation between the two countries will increasingly bear fruit.
