Nghe An marks 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos ties

A solemn ceremony was held in the Central province of Nghe An on August 17 to mark the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962 – 2022).

The event also aimed to celebrate the 45th year since the signing of the Vietnam – Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 – 2022).

In his speech, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy described the special bond and comprehensive partnership as a priceless property shared by both countries.

He also urged the younger generation to inherit what their successors have done in working to preserve and promote the great friendship and special solidarity between the two countries across all spheres for the sake of both peoples.

Also at the event, leaders of Nghe An Province awarded Certificates of Merit to 18 collectives and 28 individuals from Laos for their outstanding achievements in promoting cooperation relations between Nghe An Province and Lao provinces during the 2017 - 2022 period.

Previously, the delegates attending the celebration came to offer incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at Kim Lien Special National Relic Site in Kim Lien Commune, Nam Dan District, Nghe An Province.
