CPV delegation visits Ukraine to foster ties

A high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Politburo member Le Hong Anh is paying a working visit to Ukraine to boost the two countries’ traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation.

Le Hong Anh, who is also the standing member of the Secretariat of the CPV , on June 18 held talks with Pyotr Simonenko, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine. 
The two sides exchanged their views on international and regional issues, as well as measures to strengthen relations between the two parties. 
They agreed to improve the effectiveness of their co-operation, enhance delegation, information and experience exchanges, and educate the two countries’ young generation on their relations and co-operation. 
At the event, Le Hong Anh also informed the host about the East Sea situation and affirmed Vietnam’s stance on solving East Sea disputes on the basis of international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, commitments and agreements between regional countries. 
Simonenko highly lauded the Vietnamese delegation’s working visit, considering it a milestone in the two parties’ relations, contributing to their traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership and co-operation. 
Earlier, on June 17, the Vietnamese delegation had a working session with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Leonid Kozhara. 
Kozhara affirmed that Ukraine treasures its relationship with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Vietnam . 
As one of the leaders of Ukraine’s Party of Regions, Leonid Kozhara said that his party is willing to send delegations to Vietnam later this year and review one year of the implementation of the two parties’ agreement. 
For his part, Le Hong Anh said that the two foreign ministries should hold political consultations regularly to work out measures to boost bilateral ties in all fields. 
The Vietnamese delegation leader also asked the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to continue creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the country./.
