Vietnam, Ukraine enhance friendship, co-operation

Nhan Dan – Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov held a reception for Politburo member and standing member of the Comminist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Secretariat, Le Hong Anh, in Kiev, Ukraine on June 19 and affirmed that his country considers Vietnam a crucial partner in the Asia Pacific.

He said he hopes that Vietnam and Ukraine will enhance co-operation and support each other in the international arena.

Praising the fine developments of their comprehensive bilateral partnership, PM Azarov urged both sides to boost co-operation in many fields including politics, economics, trade, science, education, security and national defence, while realising their agreements concluded during high-level visits.

Politburo member Anh thanked the Ukrainian people for supporting Vietnam during its past struggles for independence, freedom, and national unification as well as during its the current process of national construction and protection.

He stressed that the two countries should improve the efficiency of the Inter-governmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Co-operation, boost the feasibility study for a free trade agreement between Vietnam and Ukraine, create a good investment environment for business from both countries, and foster direct links between authorities and localities on both sides.

On the same day, Politburo member Anh met with the Chairman of the Ukraine Verkhovna Rada (Parliament), Volodymyr Rybak, who is alsoDeputy Chairman of the Party of Regions (PR).

Chairman Rybak stressed that Ukraine wants to further its traditional friendship and co-operation with Vietnam.

The two countries’ legislative bodies should enhance exchanges of high-level delegations, experts and Parliamentary Friendship Groups to share experiences in building laws, as well as inspection and monitoring work.

The Vietnamese Party official affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam attach importance to promoting relations with political parties in order to lay an important foundation for developing a state relationship.

He said he hopes that the CPV and PR will share experiences in implementing Party work, and managing and developing their countries.
