The agreement marks a step towards the establishment of legal frameworks and mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, agriculture and technology.

A delegation from the MIT held working sessions with officials from several ministries and agencies of Peru on the occasion.

The Vietnamese side expressed interest in exporting agricultural products—including rice, mango, dragon fruit, longan and lychee—to Peru.

Meanwhile, the South American country is looking into agreements on vegetative quarantine towards shipping citrus fruits, blueberries, avocados and grapes to Vietnam.

In 2014, Vietnam’s exports to Peru reached US$186.9 million, up 69.2% compared to the previous year.
