Japan is one of Vietnam’s leading strategic partners and therefore the Vietnamese Government always pays adequate attention to enhancing co-operation between the two countries’ localities, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has stated.

At a reception for Hodo Nakamura, Governor of Japan’s Nagasaki prefecture, in Hanoi on August 31, the Deputy PM said Vietnam considers local affiliation one of the most crucial factors in order to advance the country’s relations with Japan forward in an efficient and pragmatic manner.

He highly valued the strong comprehensive development in the Vietnam-Japan relations, especially after the two countries elevated their ties to the new level of “Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia”.

Stressing Nakasaki prefecture’s strength in tourism and fisheries, which are also priory fields of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province, both in central Vietnam, Phuc suggested the two sides boost co-operation in these areas.

The Vietnamese Government will make further efforts to improve the country’s investment environment in order to facilitate the operation of investors, including those from Japan, the official pledged.

He voiced his wish that the Governor and other leaders of Nagasaki would pay more attention to co-operation with Vietnam while promoting people-to-people exchanges and supporting Vietnamese nationals in the locality.

Nakamura informed his host that his visit to Vietnam aims to enhance exchanges and expand co-operation with Vietnamese localities, particularly Quang Nam province.

The Governor said Nagasaki and Quang Nam are scheduled to sign an agreement to establish the framework for collaboration between the two localities on the occasion of his visit.

He called on the Vietnamese Government to create more favourable conditions for Japanese businesses, including those from Nagasaki prefecture, to run long-term businesses in the country.
