They reached the agreement during a breakfast meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia on November 24.

The three leaders said their countries will mobilise resources to carry out these projects as soon as possible so as to secure better living standards for residents across the region.

Praising the successful organisation of the ninth CLV Summit by Cambodia, they stressed their determination to sustain and promote their special cooperation mechanism in the development triangle area.

The meeting was also Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s last activity during his visit to Cambodia to attend the ninth CLV Summit before his departure for Vietnam that morning.

Established in 1999, the CLV Development Triangle Area originally covered ten provinces, namely Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong in Vietnam; Sekong, Attapeu and Saravan in Laos; and Stung Treng, Rattanakiri, and Mondulkiri in Cambodia.

In 2009, the three countries agreed to add Vietnam’s Binh Phuoc, Cambodia’s Kratie and Laos’ Champasak into the Development Triangle Area.

Currently, Vietnam is running 183 projects with a total registered capital of US$2.86 billion in Cambodia, while Cambodia is carrying out twelve projects worth over US$54 million in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Vietnam is the third-biggest investor in Laos at nearly US$5.1 billion.
