Vietnam opposes Taiwan’s drill in Truong Sa Archipelago

NDO/ VNA—Vietnam resolutely opposes Taiwan (China) deploying a drill on November 28 in the Ba Binh area, which belongs to Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Le Hai Binh has said.

He made the statement on November 29 in reply to a reporter’s query on Vietnam’s reaction to the Taiwanese side organising a drill at sea in Ba Binh.

“Vietnam has full historical evidence and legal grounds to prove its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa Archipelagoes,” Binh said.

Taiwan’s organisation of the drill in Ba Binh is a serious violation of Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty over the archipelago, threatening peace, stability, security, navigational safety, sparking tensions and complicating the situation in the East Sea, the spokesperson added.

“Vietnam resolutely protests and demands that Taiwan not repeat similar activities,” Binh concluded.
