During his working visit to Argentina from October 29 to November 1, Vo Van Thuong, who is head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission, paid courtesy visits to Vice President and President of the Senate of Argentina Gabriela Michetti and Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies Patricia Gimenez, and also met with the Minister of Communication Hermann Lombardi.

He also held talks with Jorge Kreyness, Secretary in charge of International Affairs of the Communist Party of Argentina, and met with Humberto Schiavoni, President of the ruling party Republican Proposal (PRO).

At the talks and meetings, Politburo member Thuong stressed that trade turnover has enjoyed a tenfold increase over the past 10 years, from around US$300 million in 2006 to over US$3 billion in 2016.

He asked for closer cooperation between the two sides in order to raise the figure to US$3.5 billion this year.

The Argentine leaders hailed the significance of the CPV delegation’s visit, believing that it would help to intensify their bilateral relations.

They expressed their hope to learn from Vietnam’s experience in poverty reduction, disaster response, and information and communication.

They also exchanged their views with the Vietnamese side on how to foster their cooperation in economics, trade, and investment, whilst intensifying their ties with the CPV in the time ahead.

After Argentina, the Party delegation will pay a working visit to Cuba.
