Activities mark 100th anniversary of Russia October Revolution

NDO - A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the Hanoi authorities on November 5 laid wreaths at the statue of Vladimir IlychLenin in Lenin Park in Hanoi to mark the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7, 1917).

The delegation included Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, former Party General Secretary Nong DucManh; President Tran Dai Quang; Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen ThiKim Ngan, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai; along with other members of the Politburo, Secretaries of the Party Central Committee; and representatives of leaders of central agencies, ministries, and organisations.

Lenin was one of eminent political figures and revolutionary thinkers of the 20th century, who was themastermind of the Bolshevik take-over in Russia in the year 1917 and was the architect and first leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).

Lenin was also a great teacher of workers worldwide.

* A special arts performance themed “October Epic - Forever a Belief” was held at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on November 4, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Great October Revolution of Russia.

Organised by the municipal People’s Committee, the event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen ThienNhan; Representatives of the Russian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, the Union of Friendship Organisations of the City, the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, and intellectuals who have studied in Russia.

Speaking at the event, Politburo member Nguyen ThienNhan underlined the significance of the October Revolution to socialism, national liberation and global workers’ movements.

He also emphasised the historical values of the RussianOctober Revolution to the revolutionary movement globally and in Vietnam, as well as the significance of the October Revolution, the Marxism-Leninism and the Ho Chi Minh Ideology to Vietnam’s struggling path to national liberation and socialism.

* Also in the evening of November 4, the Vietnam Television hosted an arts performance entitled “Ten Days That Shook the World”.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, and Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vasilievich Vnukov.

The programme which consisted of three chapters including the October Storm, Love for the Country, and the Historical Wheel, told the stories of people who fought for freedom, equality and democracy inspired by the October Revolution; and affirmed the historical significance of the event to the revolutionary movement around the world and in Vietnam.

* The same day in Hanoi, the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper also organised an arts programme themed “the October Melody”.
