Chinese Party leader and President Xi Jinping pays official visit to Vietnam

Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping pays a State visit to Vietnam from November 12-13 at the invitation of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang.

His entourage includes Ding Xuexiang, members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee: Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC, Director of the CPC Central Committee General Office and Director of the Chinese President’s and Secretary’s Offices; Liu He, chief of General Office of the Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs; and Yang Jiechi, State Councilor; along with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, among others.

Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping was born in 1953 in Fuping district, Shaanxi province, China. He joined the Communist Party of China in January 1974. The comrade was a graduate student in Marxist-Leninist theoretical and political studies at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Tsinghua University; had a degree in chemical engineering and a Doctor of Law.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping has gone through a long process of studying and hold many positions.

He served as secretary of the State Council General Office and the Office of the Central Military Commission from 1979 to 1982 and then deputy Party Secretary of Zhengding County, Hebei province between 1982 and 1983.

He became a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo Bureau of the 17th CPC Central Committee, secretary of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat and president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee from 2007 to 2008. He was Vice President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee between 2008 and 2010. In 2010 he became vice chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC.

In 2012, Xi became member of General Secretary of the 18th CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission. Since 2013, he has served as General Secretary of the CPC, Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, President of the PRC and Chairman of the PRC Central Military Commission.

President Xi was an alternate member of the 15th CPC Central Committee (1997-2002), a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee (2002-2007), and a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo Bureau of the 17th CPC Central Committee (2007-2012). He is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo Bureau of the CPC Central Committee for the 18th (2012-2017) and 19th (2017-2022) tenures .
