Mai, who is a Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Secretariat, spoke highly of the organization of the forum on the occasion of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping’s State visit to Vietnam right after the 19th National Congress of the CPC.

She acknowledged that after eight editions, the forum has become a platform for scholars, intellectuals and experts of both countries to exchange, contributing to promoting the healthy and effective growth of the Vietnam-China ties on the foundation of common perceptions reached by leaders of both countries.

The forum has dealt with current bilateral relations, helping deepen mutual understanding and political trust between the two countries, and creating a solid foundation for both sides to develop together, she noted.

At the meeting, Mai was also briefed on major outcomes of the forum by heads of the Vietnamese and Chinese delegations.

During the ninth Vietnam-China People’s Forum, taking place from November 10-14, participants discussed the current situation of the Vietnam-China relationship, while giving ideas to promote future ties in a healthy and sustainable manner.
