Vietnam, Cambodia strengthen legislative cooperation

Vietnam always values traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia, particularly the cooperation between two legislative bodies of the two countries at inter-parliamentary forums in the region and the world, said Vice Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly Uong Chu Luu.

NA Chairman Luu, who is also Chairman of Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Parliamentary group, made the affirmation on November 13 while receiving Ty Borasy, Chairwoman of the Cambodian Senate’s Committee for External Relations, International Cooperation, Communication and Information, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

The visit was made at a time when Vietnam and Cambodia are hosting a wide range of activities to celebrate their 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relation.

The Vietnamese NA leader hailed the significant and comprehensive achievements made by the Cambodian people over the past years, and expressed his pleasure at the growing development in Vietnam – Cambodia ties, particularly in relation to economy, investment and trade.

He called for further cooperation between the law-making bodies of Vietnam and Cambodia in order to realise current agreements and cooperative programmes inked by the two sides.

For her part, the Cambodian Senator, Ty Borasy, congratulated the Vietnamese people on their achievements in all fields as well as the fruitful outcomes that have arose from the Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation.

She said she believed that the friendship, comprehensive cooperation and special solidarity between the two nations will sustainably and continuously develope in the time to come.

The same day, the Cambodian guests held talks with a delegation from the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations, led by its head Nguyen Van Giau.

Both sides discussed the organisation and operations of the legislative bodies of the two countries, and shared their experiences on a range of issues, including law-making activities and immigration management, among others.
