The Hanoi delegation is paying a working visit to Laos at the invitation of Secretary of the Vientiane LPRP Committee and Mayor of the Lao capital city Sinlavong Khutphaythoune.

Welcoming the visit, LPRP General Secretary and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith expressed his delight at Vietnam’s recent developmental achievements, congratulating the country on the successful APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and APEC Year 2017.

Laos considers Vietnam’s successes as its own, he emphasised, noting that the respectable development achievements of both Laos and Vietnam are prerequisites for them to tighten the traditional fraternal and close-knit relations.

He said the CPV and the LPRP have closely coordinated to effectively realise their high-level agreements as well as cooperation agreements between the two Governments, thus contributing to each country’s stability and development along with peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The host leader appreciated the huge and effective support and assistance that the Vietnamese Party, State and people have given to his country throughout history. The Lao Party, State and people will join their Vietnamese counterparts to nurture the countries’ special solidarity in all fields.

He also asked Vientiane and Hanoi capitals to increase sharing information and experience and cooperate more strongly in the spheres that both are interested in such as infrastructure building, urban management, trade, tourism, and human resources development.

At another meeting, Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou considered the Hanoi delegation’s visit important among activities marking 55 years of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 40 years of the signing of the countries’ Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 2017.

She applauded the recent outcomes of the two capital cities’ cooperation and thanked Hanoi for supporting Vientiane over the past years.

Talking to the Hanoi officials, Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith said there remains huge potential for Vietnam and Laos to promote their cooperation in economy, investment and trade. Particularly, there are numerous areas in which Vientiane and Hanoi can support one another.

He expressed his hope that Hanoi will step up exchanging development experience with Vientiane in infrastructure construction, urban management, and educational, cultural and social affairs.

At the meetings, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai said he hopes the Lao leaders will create more favourable conditions for the two capitals to expand and enhance cooperation in the fields that match both sides’ demand and potential, especially in urban construction and management, investment, trade, tourism, education-training, and human resources development.

Vietnam, including Hanoi, will exert every effort to together with the Lao Party, State and people to reinforce the countries’ special solidarity – a priceless asset of both nations – in all aspects in a substantive and effective manner, he affirmed.
