She made the statement while receiving a delegation from the Vietnam Ministry of Justice led by Minister Le Thanh Long, in Vientiane, on November 27.

She thanked the Vietnamese Government and the judicial sector for their support to Laos, while asking the ministry to help Laos to draft an amended law on the enforcement of civil judgments and to build its civil code.

She called on the justice departments of provinces bordering Laos to boost engagements and experience exchanges.

The legislator noted that the Lao National Assembly has learnt from the law-making activities of the Vietnamese parliament.

For his part, Minister Long informed his host of the outcomes of the talks between the two ministries and their joint tasks set for the upcoming time.

According to the official, the judicial bodies will work to effectively implement the Vietnam – Laos agreement of mutual judicial assistance in civil and criminal matters, as well as working closely together to organise the 4th justice conference between the provinces bordering Laos.

Vietnam is willing to help Laos to build a law on the enforcement of civil judgments, he stressed, asking the Lao side to support Vietnamese expatriates in obtaining the country’s citizenship.

In the morning of the same day, the Vietnamese delegation held talks with their Lao counterparts, headed by Minister Sayxi Santivong and they signed a cooperation pact for 2018 at the function.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Ministry of Justice presented 30 sets of computers, 10 printers, and one photocopier to the Lao agency.

On November 28, the delegation will be received by Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and attend a meeting marking 35-year Vietnam – Laos justice cooperation at ministerial level.
