Vietnam welcomes efforts for peace in Korean Peninsula

Vietnam welcomes and supports related parties to continue promoting recent positive outcomes regarding the Korean Peninsula, and strengthening cooperation in building a nuclear-free area, laying firm foundation for peace, stability, cooperation and development on the peninsula and in the region and the world, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.

Hang made the statement in reply to reporters’ queries on Vietnam’s view on recent developments on the Korean Peninsula during a regular press conference of the Foreign Ministry in Hanoi on May 31.

Recently, the media reported that US President Donald Trump and leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un are expected to have a meeting in Singapore on June 12. It is expected to create a breakthrough for the DPRK’s nuclear issue and bring everlasting peace to the Korean Peninsula.
