President Tran Dai Quang receives Japanese lower house official

Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang hosted a reception in Tokyo on June 1 for Keiji Furuya, Chairman of the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Japanese House of Representatives, as part of his state visit to the East Asian country.

President Quang showed his delight at the strong, comprehensive and practical development of the Vietnam-Japan relationship over the past 45 years.

He affirmed that Vietnam treasures the extensive strategic partnership with Japan and considers Japan a leading and long-term trade partner.

Vietnam wants to work with Japan to bringing bilateral relations to a new development period, benefiting people of both nations, the President stressed.

President Quang proposed Furuya continue promoting exchanges and meetings among sectors and parliamentarian agencies of the two countries, while increasing exchanges between parliamentarians, especially young legislators. Both sides should also coordinate with and support each other at regional and international forums, he added.

For his part, Furuya stressed that Japan’s House of Representatives always treasures cooperation with Vietnam and hopes to foster the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries in all fields, especially between the House of Representatives and the National Assembly of Vietnam.

He also agreed on the need to soon organise a visit to Vietnam for Japanese parliamentarians.
