Phan Dinh Trac, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs, made the remarks during his working visit to El Salvador from July 3-6.

During his stay in El Salvador, Trac, who is also deputy head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, met with El Salvador President Salvador Sanchez Ceren and Secretary General of the FMLN Medardo Gonzalez.

He also held talks with Deputy Secretary General of the FMLN Norma Guevara, and had working sessions with President of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency Sigfrido Reyes; Secretary for Citizen Participation, Transparency, and Anti-corruption Marcos Rodriguez; and Minister of Justice and Public Security Mauricio Ramirez.

At these meetings, Trac briefed the El Salvador leaders on Vietnam’s situation and the outcomes of the implementation of the resolution adopted at the 12th National Party Congress, especially in Party building and anti-corruption.

The Party, State, and people of Vietnam highly value the solidarity and friendship of El Salvador towards Vietnam during the country’s past struggle for national liberation as well as the present-day national construction, he stressed.

President Salvador Sanchez Ceren and leaders of the FMLN party expressed their sincere sentiments towards Vietnam, as well as their admiration for late President Ho Chi Minh, the country’s efforts in national construction and defence, and significant reform achievements initiated and led by the CPV.

They informed their guests of the results El Salvador has gained in national development, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, education, healthcare, crime combat, and the protection of national security and safety.

The leaders thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for their valuable support to El Salvador, and noted their wish to deepen the traditional relations, focusing on delegation exchange and experience sharing in party-building, and state and socio-economic management.

They also proposed specific measures to further advance bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, and investment.

While in El Salvador, the Vietnamese delegation paid floral tributes to the late leaders of the FMLN party, Farabundo Marti and Schafik Handal, and visited several chapters of the party and historical and cultural relic sites across the country.

On this occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico and El Salvador Nguyen Hoai Duong presented his credentials to President Salvador Sanchez Ceren.
