The Ethiopian President took the occasion to extend his condolences to the State, Government and people of Vietnam over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang.

Teshome highly valued the visit of President Quang to Ethiopia in August, saying the trip marks a new page of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Ethiopia.

Lauding Vietnam’s achievements in the past more than three decades, notably in agricultural reform and foreign investment attraction, he said Ethiopia looks to study Vietnam’s experiences in economic development and national construction.

He proposed that Vietnam re-open its embassy in Addis Ababa and voiced his hope that the ambassador will actively contribute to the bilateral relations and cooperation.

For his part, Ambassador Doanh expressed his hope that the two countries will enhance exchanges of high-ranking delegations to share experiences and create solid foundation for cooperation in many fields.

The same day, the Vietnamese Ambassador discussed measures to bolster cooperation with Tsegab Kebebew, head of the Asia and Oceania Affairs of Ethiopian Foreign Ministry.

At the meeting, he asked the ministry to arrange the Vietnam visit of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali at an early date.

He also requested relevant agencies of Ethiopia to consider and start negotiations on agreements on investment encouragement and protection, on double taxation and others, to create a legal foundation for bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.
