In his congratulatory letter, Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, warmly congratulated General Secretary Trong, who was elected as the new President of Vietnam by the 14th National Assembly.

He said he believed that the unceasing efforts and long-term vision of the new President would inspire Vietnam to achieve greater progress, towards realising the goal of national industrialisation and modernisation.

PM Hun Sen also voiced his delight to continue joining General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong to further deepen the sincere relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, in the spirit of fine neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation, for the interests of the two countries’ people and for peace, stability, and common prosperity in the region.

In his congratulations, Governor-General of Australia, Peter Cosgrove, stated that the Vietnam-Australia relations have a long-standing tradition and have been increasingly strengthened thanks to close people-to-people exchanges, increased cooperation in economics, trade and development, and the sharing of similarities in coping with regional and global challenges.

Cosgrove recalled his first state-level meeting to Vietnam early this year and touched on the ongoing celebration of 45 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries, expressing his belief that, with their newly established strategic partnership in March 2018, Vietnam and Australia would continue to stand side by side for a stable, open and prosperous region.

Mongolia’s President Khaltmaa Battulga also cabled a message of congratulations to General Secretary and President of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.
