Top leader extends sympathies to Ethiopia over plane crush

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Nguyen Phu Trong on March 12 sent a message of sympathies to Ethiopian President Sahle Work Zewde over the recent crush of an Ethiopian plane.

A spokesperson of Ethiopian Airlines said Flight ET 302 crashed near Bishoftu town, 62 km southeast of the Ethiopian capital city of Addis Ababa, with 149 passengers and eight crew members aboard, confirming that the plane was a Boeing 737-800 Max.

The plane left Bole airport in Addis Ababa at 8:38 am (local time) before losing contact with the control tower just six minutes later.
