Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh and leaders of Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities attended the event.

Minister Chu Ngoc Anh extended his best wishes to the US Government and people on their Independence Day, reaffirming that Vietnam considers the US as one of its most important partners, and wants to promote and deepen the bilateral ties in a more practical and effective manner.

He stressed that outcomes achieved in the bilateral cooperation over recent years have laid the foundation for the two countries to enter 2020 with many important events, including the celebration of the 25th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties.

He added that when Vietnam takes on the roles as the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020 and the non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure, the two countries will have more opportunities to coordinate in addressing regional issues of mutual concern, for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.
