Addressing the event, Duong congratulated the newly appointed Honourary Consul, expressing his belief that Miguel Angel Landeros will learn about the Vietnamese community in his consular area, while guiding them in following Mexico’s laws, respecting the country’s customs, and fostering friendly relations with the host people.

In particular, the ambassador expected Miguel Angel Landeros, in his role as COMCE vice president and president of the COMCE of the West, to support the organisation of economic cooperation and trade promotion activities between Vietnam and Mexico, especially Mexico’s western states, contributing to developing the multifaceted relationship between the two countries in a more extensive and substantive manner in the near future.

For his part, Miguel Angel Landeros expressed his honour at the appointment, pledging to do his utmost to fulfil his missions as an honorary consul.

He said he would encourage and directly head a delegation of western Mexican enterprises to explore the Vietnamese market, thus boosting bilateral trade and economic cooperation, especially within the framework of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to which both Mexico and Vietnam are signatories.

The Honourary Consul affirmed that his appointment is not only an honour for himself but also for his hometown of Guadalajara, the second largest city in Mexico regarding both economic and socio-cultural aspects, where President Ho Chi Minh’s statue is formally situated at the International Friendship Centre.
