Speaking at the event, Chairman Nguyen Anh Tuan recalled major milestones in bilateral ties and affirmed that Vietnam-Germany relations are becoming deeper, more effective and comprehensive.

He noted that mutual trust and understanding between the two countries are being increasingly strengthened through high-level exchanges and cooperative mechanisms.

At local level, Ho Chi Minh City has been a pioneer in boosting cooperation with Germany and in particular the city of Leipzig across a wide range of areas.

On behalf of the German community in the city, German Consul General Josefine Wallat thanked the friendship society for organising the meeting.

She also thanked the Vietnamese people for donating medical equipment and masks to the German people to cope with the coronavirus pandemic when Germany was unable to produce these in time to meet demand.

The German diplomat stated that there will be various cultural activities in Ho Chi Minh City in November to celebrate 45 years of bilateral ties, which are expected to further strengthen the fine relationship between the two countries.
