NDO/VNA – The first dialogue between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) of the UK was held via video conference on October 1 with the theme of “cooperation in green economic development post-COVID-19”.

The event was co-chaired by Hoang Binh Quan, member of the CPV Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations, and MP Wayne David, APPG Chair.

In his opening remarks, Quan stressed that the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership is developing in an active and substantial manner, with political trust enhanced through exchange and cooperation mechanisms and high-level meetings.

Vietnam treasures and hopes to deepen its strategic partnership with the UK to ensure the continuity and avoid any interruption in bilateral cooperation after the UK leaves the European Union, he said.

David spoke highly of substantial progresses in bilateral relations, affirming that the UK attaches importance to Vietnam in its strategy to boost relations with ASEAN, which is reflected through the participation in such mechanisms as the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus.

Participants at the dialogue exchanged opinions on the situation and prospects for cooperation in economics-trade in general and green energy in particular, as well as measures to boost bilateral collaboration in these fields.
