The statement was made by the President of Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City branch, Truong Thi Hien at a meeting held by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) on January 6 to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of Cuba National Day (January 1, 1959-2021).

She emphasised that despite the significant geographic separation, the two countries are still close in terms of their ideals and enthusiastic hearts, illustrated by the symbolic images of Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban President Fidel Castro.

Hien also noted that the long-term solidarity and friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have been constantly consolidated and developed across all fields.

For her part, Consul General of the Republic of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City Indira Lopez Arguelles expressed her sincere thanks to the HUFO for the meeting.

She shared the achievements that Cuban Government and people have gained during their cause of national construction, defence and development.

The Consul General affirmed that Cuba will always stand side by side with Vietnam to preserve and promote the special solidarity and friendship that exists between the two nations.
