Minh, who is a member of the Party Central Committee, made the statement during his reception for newly-appointed Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen at the newspaper’s headquarters in Hanoi on June 10.

The event also saw the attendance of Third Secretary at the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, Maiker Comendator Escalante, and Nhan Dan’s Deputy Editor-in-chief Dinh Nhu Hoan.

Welcoming the ambassador to visit Nhan Dan Newspaper, Minh highlighted the special and close brotherly relations between Vietnam and Cuba, expressing his belief that the sound traditional ties and cooperation between Nhan Dan and Granma, the two countries’ important newspapers, will be further tightened.

Among Nhan Dan’s publications, the online version of the newspaper is featured in many languages, including Spanish, Minh said, hailing this as one of the channels that directly provide information about Vietnam to the Spanish-speaking community in general and to the Cuban people in particular.

He affirmed that in the era of information explosion, the press and media agencies play a very important role in enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of countries.

Under the direction of the Party and State, Nhan Dan Newspaper has a great task, acting as a bridge connecting Vietnam with countries, especially with Cuban friends, Minh stated.

He voiced his belief that, with the sound traditional relations between the two countries, information about Vietnam will regularly appear in Granma newspaper in particular and the system of Cuban media means as a whole.

For his part, Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen congratulated Nhan Dan Newspaper and also congratulated Minh on his new position as Nhan Dan Editor-in-chief, noting that the visit to the newspaper is the first activity of his ambassadorial tenure in Vietnam.

The guest noted that information about Vietnam regularly appears on Cuban media, notably information reflecting the position and role of Vietnam in the international arena and the country’s socio-economic development achievements.

He voiced his hope that the two sides will continue to strengthen exchange and cooperation activities between the Cuban Embassy and Granma Newspaper and Nhan Dan Newspaper in the coming time when the COVID-19 pandemic has been brought under control.

The ambassador expressed his willingness to always support Nhan Dan Newspaper with its Spanish language online version.

On the occasion, Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Minh briefed the guests on the significant achievements that Nhan Dan Newspaper, the central organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the voice of the Party, State and People of Vietnam, has attained throughout its over-70-year history of development.
