PM urges more effective measures to repel the pandemic

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on September 11 to review the work of COVID-19 prevention and control in the past week, and devise solutions and tasks suitable to the situation in the coming time.

According to the report of the Steering Committee, in the past week, the rate of new cases in the community has decreased compared to the previous week in localities with a high number of cases: Da Nang (down 60%), Binh Duong (down 27%). %), Long An (down 3%); and the average daily number of deaths nationwide decreased by 30%, of which Ho Chi Minh City (down 30%), Dong Nai (50%), Long An (30%), Tien Giang (70%).

Of the 23 provinces and cities implementing or strengthening social distancing, there are 8 localities that are controlling the epidemic well; 12 localities are continuing on the roadmap to achieving epidemic control. Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Kien Giang are the three localities that need to continue to make efforts and implement drastic measures to prevent and control the epidemic in order to be able to fulfill all epidemic control criteria.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Pham Minh Chinh, also Head of the Steering Committee, emphasised it is necessary to evaluate the supervision and inspection, especially of the Steering Committees at all levels and devise more effective solutions and measures to prevent and combat the epidemic.

More attention should be paid to mobilising people to continue to strictly abide by the regulations on epidemic prevention and control, he noted.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) was assigned to soon complete the overall strategy on epidemic prevention and control in the new situation, focusing on vaccines, testing and treatment; and improving system capacity to respond and return to the new normal by 2022.

At the same time, the MoH is responsible for developing guidelines for the implementation of measures to loosen and restore activities according to the principle of opening up with a roadmap, and continuously evaluating to make appropriate adjustments in order to resume production in a safe manner.
