In an interview granted to Nhan Dan (People’s) Newspaper, the Ambassador also expressed his belief in the prospect of stronger and deeper cooperation between the ROK and Vietnam.

Regarding the recent efforts in fighting against COVID-19, Ambassador Park Noh Wan emphasised that both the ROK and Vietnam have gained positive results.

Despite the appearance of the dangerous and contagious Delta variant as well as the worldwide shortage of COVID-19 vaccines causing many difficulties for epidemic prevention and control, Vietnam will soon overcome this crisis thanks to the consensus and joint efforts of the whole people as highlighted by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, noted the Ambassador.

He also stressed that the ROK and Vietnam have been closely cooperating and supporting each other to cope with the pandemic amid its complicated developments. The ROK has actively supported Vietnam in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, contributing to resolving difficulties caused by COVID-19 in Vietnam. The two countries should continue to enhance cooperation to strengthen Vietnam’s health capacity, including the development and assurance of vaccine supply in the near future, he added.

Sharing on the results from the cooperation between the ROK and Vietnam over the recent time, Ambassador Park Noh Wan noted that in addition to the brilliant economic development of Vietnam, the relations between the two nations have developed in all fields in a rapid and deep manner.

In the context of COVID-19 pandemic raging around the world, the trade turnover between the two countries still reached US$70 billion in 2020, approaching the target of US$100 billion, towards the trade balance as agreed by the two countries’ senior leaders. The ROK is now the first largest investor in Vietnam, with total registered capital estimated at more than US$71 billion.

The ROK and Vietnam are moving toward the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. Ambassador Park Noh Wan emphasised that the cooperation based on the foundation of trust between the two countries has been nurtured over the past 30 years and will develop more deeply. The ROK will continue to closely work with Vietnam to achieve the goals set by the two countries, he added.
