Lang Son urged to focus on performing well personnel strategic task

The northern mountainous province of Lang Son should continue to focus on performing well in the strategic task of personnel work, complete the cadre planning at all levels, as well as pay attention to fostering, training and planning the contingent of young cadres.

Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Organisation Commission Truong Thi Mai made the statement while attending a working session with the Standing Board of the Lang Son Provincial Party Committee on September 16.

She emphasised that as a province with a long border, Lang Son should continue to focus on ensuring national defence and security while at the same time paying attention to COVID-19 prevention and control, and accelerating the vaccination of the people.

Importance should also be attached to enhancing people's living conditions in remote, disadvantaged and border areas, she noted.

At the meeting, Member of the PCC, Secretary of the Lang Son Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Doan briefed on the results of the implementation of the goals and tasks set at the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure.

Lang Son posted a gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of 2.09%. Economic structure continued to shift in the right direction, with GRDP per capita reaching VND43.4 million.

In the first 9 months of 2021, although the COVID-19 epidemic has impacted a number of socio-economic indicators of the province, with the flexible implementation and response of solutions in specific time and fields, the province's socio-economic development still achieved positive results. In particular, the province's state budget revenue increased significantly compared to the previous year.

The province's budget revenue reached over VND 8.1 trillion (over US$356 million), exceeding the estimate by 39.3%, an increase of 66% over the same period in 2020.

In addition, the customs clearance activities have been maintained, the total import-export revenue through the province increased by 51.5% over the same period. Disbursement of state budget capital, agro-forestry production, and industry all achieved the set plan; socio-cultural fields continued to receive due attention; and national defence and security work has been guaranteed.
