PM Chinh's visit will contribute to comprehensively and extensively promoting relations between the two countries, PathetLao Daily, a publication of the Laos News Agency (KPL), reported on November 22.

In an article published on the same day, Pasaxon newspaper, the official organ of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), said relations between the two countries are enjoying comprehensive and substantial development in various fields.

According to the Lao newspapers, Japan is an important contributor to Vietnam's economic development and vice versa. In recent years, the cooperative ties between the two countries have developed strongly, especially in terms of investment, trade, and people-to-people exchange. This shows that the bilateral relations have become a win-win friendship model which creates a foundation for extensive cooperation for peace and friendship in the Southeast Asia.

PathetLao said Japan is one of the leading important cooperation partners of Vietnam and it was the first country in the Group of Seven (G7) to recognise Vietnam's market economy. The East Asian nation is also the largest ODA donor, second largest investor, third largest tourism partner and fourth largest trading partner of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister will be the first foreign leader to meet directly with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio since the ruling Liberal Democratic Party won the election for the House of Representatives on October 31, 2021, it added.

The Vietnamese Government leader’s visit to Japan is hoped to create a solid political foundation for the two countries to further promote cooperation in various fields, the articles said.
