President presents decisions on conferring ambassador titles

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented decisions to confer the title of ambassadors to Deputy Foreign Ministers and the head of the Vietnamese representative mission at international organisations during a ceremony in Hanoi on January 20.

Accordingly, Deputy Foreign Ministers Nguyen Quoc Dung, To Anh Dung, and Vu Quang Minh were appointed as Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in countries that are strategic partners and comprehensive partners of Vietnam;while Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang was appointed as Head of the Vietnamese Representative Mission at International Organisations.

The President highlighted the principle of using national interests as a basis to dealing with external issues as well as to making the best use of the agreements and mechanisms signed with partners. The top strategic task of diplomatic sector is maintaining an environment of peace for national development, he said.

At the same time, he asked for promoting multilateral diplomacy in combination with bilateral diplomacy to best serve national interests.

The diplomats affirmed that they will always try their best and stay flexible and adaptive to successfully complete their assigned tasks, as well as closely follow the development requirements of Vietnam, thus ensuring the interests of the nation.
