Within the event, Loc Ninh Party Secretary Le Truong Son recalled the heroic revolutionary tradition of the district, noting that its liberation was a significant morale booster for the revolution in southern Vietnam.

In 1972, Loc Ninh became the capital of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam and later the command headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, which led to the spring victory of 1975.

Loc Ninh has seen remarkable changes in the 50 years since then, with its income per capita reaching 68.2 million VND (2,983 USD) in 2021, a 3.6-fold increase compared to 1991.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh highlighted the bravery and steadfastness of Loc Ninh people while expressing his delight at the district’s rapid development in recent years.

He urged the district to make greater efforts to tap into its strengths and boost local socio-economic development in the years to come.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Minh presented the Independence Order, second class, awarded by the President to Loc Ninh District, along with the Prime Minister’s decision to recognise Loc Ninh as a revolutionary base during the American war.
