In his closing remarks, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung underscored the importance of the upcoming 11th meeting, the last gathering of the 13th legislature, and called on relevant agencies to complete preparations for the event.

The 11th meeting, which is due to take place from March 21 to April 16, is scheduled to approve seven draft laws, including the Law on Access to Information; the Law on Signing, Joining and Implementing International Treaties (amended); the Law on the Press (amended); the Law on Child Protection, Care and Education (amended); the Pharmacy Law (amended); the Law on amendments and supplements to some articles of the Law on Value Added Tax, the Law on Special Consumption Tax and the Law on Tax Management; and the Law on Export and Import Tariffs.

According NA Secretary General Nguyen Hanh Phuc, delegates will assess the implementation of socio-economic development tasks and the State budget in 2015.

They will also provide feedback on the realisation of the socio-economic development plan during 2011-2015 and decide on the socio-economic development plan for the next five years, as well as the plan on land use for 2016-2020.

Working reports presented by the NA and its agencies, the State Audit Office of Vietnam, the President, the Government, the Prime Minister, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy will also be scrutinised, he said.

During the 46th session, legislators debated draft working reports of the 13th NA and its Standing Committee, and a report acquiring feedback on the draft Law on Access to Information. They approved a resolution ratifying the personnel structure of the 13th NA’s Secretariat.

NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung suggested the draft reports should highlight the support of voters and people nationwide for the 13th legislature as well as the role of NA deputies during the tenure.

Regarding the report acquiring feedback on the draft Law on Access to Information, the NA Standing Committee said the State is responsible for ensuring citizens’ rights to access of information.

Therefore, the bill’s instruction stating the State agencies’ responsibility for providing information for citizens, helps them show their activities both publicly and transparently, the committee noted.
