National Assembly, Government Offices introduce nominations for general election

The National Assembly and Government Offices held separate meetings on March 9 to seek voters’ opinions on the nominations for the upcoming National Assembly election scheduled to take place in May.

The NA Office’s meeting was attended by NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, who is also Chairman of the National Electoral Commission, NA Vice Chairs, head of NA committees and more than 200 voters.

Among 77 candidates nominated by the NA Standing Committee, some have been nominated for the first time while some are current NA deputies, including NA Vice Chairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Tong Thi Phong and Uong Chu Luu.

The conference was held in accordance with procedures stipulated in the Constitution, the Law on Election of Deputies to National Assembly and People’s Committees, and relevant laws.

Meanwhile the Government Office’s list of candidates include current Deputy Prime Ministers Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Pham Binh Minh, and Vice Chair of the Government Office Nguyen Khac Dinh.

On behalf of the candidates, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked voters at the Government Office for their confidence and promised to do their best to fulfil the responsibilities of an NA deputy if elected.
