Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc read a report of the Party Delegation to the Government on the socio-economic development plan, the mid-term financial plan between 2016 and 2020 and the public investment plan for 2016-2020.
In the afternoon, committee members worked in groups, discussing the working agenda of the committee’s 12th tenure.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stressed that the agenda should give priority to urgent issues and key tasks, including strengthening the Party and improving the efficiency of the apparatus of the entire political system.
At this plenum, the Party Central Committee will decide nominees for the key positions of President, Government Prime Minister, and National Assembly Chairman.
The 2nd Party Central Committee plenum will run until March 12.
