The information was announced during a meeting on March 14 between the city leaders and an official French official delegation led by French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noel Poirier.
The two sides agreed to organise the 10th Conference on Vietnam-France’s Locality Co-operation from September 14-16.
The event is expected to draw the participation of 500 Vietnamese and French deputies who are local officials and representatives from the business community.
Ambassador Jean-Noel Poirier said that, following the success of the previous conferences, this year’s event would offer a good opportunity for businesses from both countries to co-operate in four key areas: economics and tourism; education and healthcare; environment, climate change and agro-fisheries; and urban development.
In parallel with the main event, a range of activities will be held on the sidelines of the conference including the Vietnam-France Culture Week from September 12-18, an international fair from September 15-17, and a seminar on investment and trade promotion on September 15.
The co-operation event, also known as the Vietnam-France Decentralised Co-operation Conference, was initiated in 1989 with the establishment of relations between the Ile de France region and Hanoi in the 1990s.
The co-operation has been continuously strengthened and developed to promote the traditional friendly relations and multi-faceted co-operation between the two countries' localities.
The event is held every two or three years to periodically review the effectiveness of Vietnam-France local co-operation and discuss directions for the next stage.
