Ho Chi Minh City has completed preparations for a conference promoting investment in the province, which is scheduled to take place in the southern hub on April 5, Cang said to his guest.

He hoped after the visit and the conference, both sides’ business co-operation will gain further momentum.

For his part, Phoikham Houngbounyuang, who is also deputy secretary of the Xaysomboun Party Committee, said the newly established two year old province is located in a remote area of Laos, and is facing several difficulties, especially underdeveloped infrastructure.

Xaysomboun called for investment from Vietnamese enterprises, particularly from Ho Chi Minh City, he noted.

He concurred with his host on focusing on the implementation of some prioritised joint projects with Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Lao official, his province boasts good weather and several cultural-historical sites to develop tourism.
