Cyprus opens consulate general in Vietnam

The Republic of Cyprus officially opened its consulate general in Ho Chi Minh City on April 6.

The consulate general will take care of granting short-term visas to businesspeople and Vietnamese citizens going to Cyprus for vacation or seeking business opportunities.

The consulate general office is located on the 11th floor of the Harbour View building, No. 35 Nguyen Hue Street.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cyprus’ Ambassador to India and Vietnam Demetrios Theophylactou said Vietnam is considered an important partner of Cyprus with great potential for bilateral cooperation.

The opening of the consulate general is a necessary step to connect the two countries and promote partnership on many fields from politics and the economy, to culture and tourism, the ambassador said.

Tran Thi Hieu Hanh, Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of External Affairs, said the consulate general will be a bridge to boost cooperation between HCM City and Cyprus.

She said the department will actively assist the consulate general in its activities in HCM City as well as provinces and cities in the southern region.

The consulate general will take care of granting short-term visas to businesspeople and Vietnamese citizens going to Cyprus for vacation or seeking business opportunities.

Cyprus’ Honorary consul Phan Quoc Cong said the consulate general will help open up cooperation opportunities for businesses of the two countries, especially in the fields of tourism and real estate.
