He made the remarks on October 20 while leading the Prime Minister Working Group to work with the Ministry of Science and Technology on the implementation of tasks assigned by the Government related to the specialised inspection of import and export goods.

Minister Dung emphasised that many types of goods related to human health are subject to specialised inspection with enormous costs, but a small rate of goods is detected not meeting quality requirements.

He noted that the PM asked for the suspension of overlapping inspection and conflicts of legal documents in order for only one ministry to take charge of inspecting goods with the support of other ministries.

Dung said that goods are inspected manually without applying standards, resulting in the low detection rate of unqualified goods.

He asked the Ministry of Science and Technology to pay more attention to applying standards in inspecting goods and applying advanced technology in this work.

He also advised the ministry to build market institutions for science and technology products.

According to the report from the ministry, the ministry has accomplished 245 out of 403 tasks assigned by the Government while 158 tasks have yet to be completed, but are still within the deadline.
