The suggestion was made by Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, while addressing a conference held in the Northern province on December 27 to review the local emulation and commendation work in 2017 and deploy the 2018 tasks.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Thinh highly praised the province’s emulation movements in the past year, stressing that, with its responsibility and determination, Quang Ninh has become one of the bright spots in socio-economic development and a destination for domestic and foreign tourists. Recently, the locality has taken the lead in terms of their reform of the administrative apparatus and Party organisation.

She urged Quang Ninh in 2018 to focus on raising the quality of its emulation and commendation work, paying special attention to rewarding individuals who record positive achievements, and attaching importance to the propagation and multiplication of advanced models in various effective forms.

On the occasion, the vice president awarded the second-class Labour Order to several local leaders for their outstanding achievements in the emulation and commendation work from 2012 to 2016.

In 2017, the emulation and commendation work in Quang Ninh has recorded positive changes with diverse targets. Many emulation movements received the participation of a large number of officials and local people, such as "the whole community unites to build new rural and civilised city" and "the whole community join hands for the poor - let no-one be left behind."

Particularly, the emulation movement "Striving to bring local communes and villages out of extremely difficult situations, fulfilling the objectives of Programme 135 during 2017-2020" has achieved positive results.

Results from the emulation movements have contributed significantly to the completion of all of the 11 socio-economic targets set by the province, creating motivation for the whole province to develop rapidly and sustainably in all aspects.
