Party Secretary Nhan, who is also a Politburo member, led a delegation of the city’s officials to visit several units and individuals that participated in the 1968 Spring Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising, in the southern economic hub, on January 29.

Politburo member Nhan expressed his sincere gratitude to Le Thanh Hai, former Politburo member and former municipal Party Secretary, for his contributions to the uprising in spring 1968 and towards the nation’s revolutionary cause. Hai was among the former soldiers that participated in the 1968 Tet Offensive and was active in the Ban Co area of district 3.

On the same day, the delegation met with former political and revolutionary prisoners. Secretary Nhan expressed his gratitude for the sacrifices of the former political prisoners in the struggle for national independence. He urged local authorities at all levels to pay greater attention in caring for those who have contributed to the revolution, including former political prisoners.

The city’s senior leader also visited the family of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Tran Van Lai (alias Nam Lai, Mai Hong Que, Nam USOM), who built a secret weapon basement (at No. 287/68-70-72, Nguyen Dinh Chieu street, ward 5, district 3) serving the battle of Independence Palace by Saigon Commandos in the spring of 1968.
