President pays pre-Tet visit to armed forces in Gia Lai

The visit took place on the occasion of the 88th Party founding anniversary (February 3) and the traditional Lunar New Year.

He asked the Army Corps No.3 to fully grasp and seriously implement resolutions and decrees on military affairs and national defence of the Party, State, the Central Military Commission, and the Defence Ministry, as well as thoroughly analyse and forecast sabotage activities by hostile forces in the new situation.

The Army Corps No.3 must work closely with border guard and public security forces, and units concerned to readily fight “peace evolution”, violent disturbances and terrorism while promptly and effectively dealing with contingencies, contributing to safeguarding independence, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, he said.

Visiting Regiment of the Mobile Police of the Central Highlands, President Quang said that the Regiment needs to firmly maintain political stability, safeguard territorial sovereignty and social safety and order, thus creating a favourable environment for national development.

In the afternoon the same day, he visited and presented gifts to heroic Vietnamese mother Le Thi Thue, 92, residing in Pleiku city.
