PM identifies major tasks to spur Yen Bai’s development

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked Yen Bai provincial authorities to stimulate economic restructuring, enhance human resource training, and mobilise all available resources to speed up the locality’s socio-economic development over the coming years.

The Government leader made the request at a February 3 working session with the key leaders of Yen Bai province in Yen Bai city.

He applauded the achievements of the achievements in 2017, particularly in consolidating Party building and the political system, reaching an average income per capita of VND29.5 million (US$1,298), and attracting 79 projects with a total investment of more than VND28 trillion (US$ 1.25 billion).

He tasked the provincial authorities with being more attentive to job creation for locals, creating a favourable business environment to lure investors, and improving the living stantards of ethnic minority groups.

He also called for the development of projects and proposals on advertising the destination opportunities of the province’s terraced fields in Mu Cang Chai district in order to unlock the tourism potential of the locality.

During his stay in Yen Bai province, PM Phuc attended a ground breaking ceremony for the Edge Glass Electronic Component Factory in Bao Hung commune, Tran Hung district. The VND5 trillion (US$ 219.5 million) project is funded by the Republic of Korea’s Edge Glass Joint Stock Company.

Once it comes into operation in April 2019, the factory is expected to create jobs for around 3,000 local workers.

The PM also presented Tet gifts to Vietnamese heroic mother Ngo Thi Hoa and war veteran Nguyen Trong Hung in Yen Bai city.
