Vietnam, Russia enhance cooperation

Cooperation between Vietnam and Russia has developed strongly in many fields, particularly in economy, trade, investment, and energy.

The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung while hosting a reception for Leonid Ivanovich Kalashnikov, a member of the Presidium - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, and head of the committee on Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots on March 12 in Hanoi.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Dung affirmed that Vietnam is always grateful for the support provided by the former Soviet Union (now Russia) during its fight for independence in the past as well as in the cause of national industrialisation and modernisation today.

The two countries have developed a comprehensive strategic partnership for six years, yielding excellent results, he added.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM spoke of his hopes that the two sides would continue to create more favourable conditions for bilateral economic cooperation.

For his part, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Leonid Ivanovich Kalashnikov said that Russian side would make efforts to develop relations between the two Parties and enhance cooperation in all fields.
