The Vietnamese NA leader expressed pleasure at her visit to Deltares, an independent institute for applied research in the field of water, geophysics, ecosystems, and relevant policies for deltas, coastal regions and river basins.
She gave her sincere thanks to the institute director and other leaders, as well as to experts and researchers of the institute for their reception and sharing of valuable experience on adaptation to climate change, which is helpful for Vietnam.
Director of Deltares Institute Maartens Smits said that the institute employs 800 people from 36 countries around the world, including 200 doctors and 20 professors. Its researching works have significantly contributed to combating the influence of climate change.
The Vietnamese delegation was introduced to the early flood and drought warning systems that are being deployed in the delta regions around the world, including Vietnam’s Mekong River Delta region.
The experts from the Deltares Institute also presented the results of several projects implemented in Vietnam, including programmes related to sea, delta, and underground water management as well as for flood risk management and warning systems.
On the same day, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands Khadija Arib hosted a banquet in La Haye for Vietnamese top legislator Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and an NA delegation.
