Visiting the Port of Singapore, run by the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA), on April 27, PM Phuc lauded Singapore’s strategic vision in utilising its port advantages as one of the focuses for economic development, hailing it as an experience for Vietnam to learn from.

He was briefed by the PSA leader on the operations of the Port, as well as the company’s port management and operation experience. The Vietnamese leader spoke highly of the achievements attained by the Port, while asking the PSA to share its experience and collaborate with Vietnam in developing ports in the country.

Later in the morning, PM Phuc visited the Supply Chain City, invested in by YCH Group, a Singaporean giant in logistics services. Supply Chain City was inaugurated in 2017 on an area of over 600,000 square meters. It is considered as a smaller version of Silicon Valley, which offers logistic services and is an important supply chain in Singapore. Together with the port system, the Supply Chain City has helped Singapore to become one of the largest logistics centres in the world.

Roberet Yap, Executive Chairman of YCH Group, introduced PM Phuc and the Vietnamese officials to the operations of the group, as well as that of the Supply Chain City. He said that the company has applied many modern technologies in its logistics services, specifically including the combination of the automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS), a multi-tier storage structure, unmanned aerial vehicles, and advanced robots.

The Supply Chain City leader said the company has been running an affiliate in Vietnam, but is currently only operating warehouse services, thus voicing his wish to bring technological advances to Vietnam to expand the company’s logistics operations.

PM Phuc extended his congratulations over the impressive achievements attained by the YCH Group, stating that the group’s experience is crucial to Vietnam in developing the country’s logistics industry.

He pledged to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese partners to boost their cooperation with Supply Chain City to develop modern services in Vietnam’s port system.

Highlighting the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore, the PM called on YCH Group to collaborate with Vietnamese partners in developing logistics services, thus contributing to accelerating economic development.
