Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh extends congratulations to new US Secretary of State

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on April 26 cabled a message of congratulations to Mike Pompeo, who has got the Senate approval to become the new Secretary of State of the United States (US), according to the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry.

Deputy PM Minh reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of considering the US as one of its most important partners and wishing to strengthen friendly relations and win-win cooperation with the US in a substantive, stable, and long-term manner, based on the principle of respecting international laws as well as independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other.

He expressed his belief that the cooperation between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries will contribute significantly to accelerating the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership both in bilateral issues and at regional and international forums.

On the occasion, Deputy PM and FM Minh extended an invitation to newly appointed US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
