At the meeting, Governor of Irkutsk province Levchenko highly appreciated the working visit by the delegation from Quang Ninh province and recalled his good impression during his visit to the Vietnamese province in November 2017.
The two provinces see great potential for development cooperation in the areas of health, education and tourism, he said, adding that, as Quang Ninh will soon put the Van Don International Airport into operation, the connectivity between the two sides will be very convenient.
For his part, Chairman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long expressed his wish to establish long-term and effective cooperation between the two provinces.
Briefing the host on the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province, Chairman Long emphasised the province’s strengths in the mining industry and tourism.
The completion of Van Don International Airport in the Van Don Special Economic Zone will increase connectivity with other parts of the world, including Irkutsk province, he noted.
At the working session, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of friendly relations between Quang Ninh and Irkutsk.
The two sides agreed to regularly exchange delegations in order to promote mutual understanding and cooperation in the fields of tourism, economics, health, culture, education, agriculture and ecology.
