Vice President meets overseas Vietnamese in Laos

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang and met with overseas Vietnamese from Luang Prabang and Northern Laos on June 22, as part of her official visit to Laos.

The State official valued the role of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang for building close political relations with Northern Laos and for supporting the Vietnamese community in Laos.

While talking with the overseas Vietnamese in Northern Laos, the Vice President expressed her appreciation for their love and contributions to Laos and the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

She emphasised that the Party and State always pay due attention to the interests and life of the overseas Vietnamese community, including the large numbers of overseas Vietnamese in Laos and Luang Prabang in particular.

She also told the Vietnamese people in Laos to maintain the tradition of solidarity and mutual support, while strictly obeying the laws and habits of the host, thereby contributing to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

In addition, the Vice President called on Vietnamese businesses to boost their investment and trade activities in Northern Lao provinces and to actively participate in local social activities in order to support Lao people and local socio-economic development.

On the occasion, Vice President Thinh presented gifts from the Vietnam National Fund for Vietnamese Children to outstanding Vietnamese students in Luang Prabang and Northern Laos.

On the evening of the same day, Vice President, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, will leave Laos for Vietnam, concluding her four-day visit to Laos.
